Aд Syndicate
Members,
I’m as excited as you are to get the requisite prattling
behind us so that we may set lines for these upcoming matches. Please pardon
your friendly bookie’s rapacious obligatory desire to honor our past Syndicate
Chapters with nostalgic homages to “Lines of Yore”. Couldn’t resist the temptation to undertake a historical
review of some of our previous exploits. After all, we do live in a “Short-Attention-Span
Age” that outright encourages duplicitous doublethink to comprehend the present.
; ) Taking a fleeting trip down Memory Lane was eminently satisfying.
Regardless, I pledge to you that the text to follow shall contain no more
egregious “re-posts”. We shall journey forward together, wherever that may lead
us.
With that in mind, let’s rock the lines.
A QUICK REVIEW OF THE RULES
Deutschland vs. Russia
The
Line: Germany +3 Goals
The Favorite (Germany) is favored to win by 3 goals. If
you bet on Russia, there are three ways you can win the bet:
1) Russia loses by less than 3 goals.
2) Match is a draw
3) Russia wins
Conversely, there is only one way to win if you bet on
Germany
1) Germany wins by more than 3 goals
Should Germany win by precisely 3 goals, THE BET IS A
WASH. THE BET IS A TIE. NO ONE OWES ANYONE ANYTHING.
As always, the bookie reserves the right to roll the line
should too much money come in on one side. Rest assured, however, that your
friendly AND fastidious bookie makes note of ALL electronic time-stamps and
wagers will be accepted on a first-come, first-serve basis.
Alles klar? Let’s head to St. Petersburg.

Russia vs. New Zealand
Of all the feedback I received on my anti-Russian Riffs, I
enjoyed Syndicate Member 30-M’s the most:
Reader:
Hate our revamped Russia if you must, but it’s just a bunch of “Id”
Vicey:
“Id”.
Let’s call it that.
“Id”
= “Ego”
Sigmund
Freud was onto something.
The
Kiwis will still draw the dinosaurs. Of
that my “Id” is comfortable.
THE
LINE: Pick em’
Sunday, June 18th
Portugal vs. Mexico
“The Simpsons” actually previewed this match back in the
late 90s:
Prescient Hilarity! I expect that we’ll actually get a good
game here. Nani and C. Ronaldo will combine late-on to pad the final scoreline.
THE
LINE: Portugal +2 Goals
Cameroon vs. Chile
I’ll augur that it will take a little time for the defending
Pan-American Champions to get into gear. A closer-contested match than most
might expect. Sanchez breaks through in the end.
THE
LINE: Chile +1 Goal

Deutschland vs. Australia
True to my word, I won’t re-post the 2010 encounter between
these two sides which Germany won 4-nil.
I still expect a similar result. Exploit my Kraut Pride if
you must.
Auf geht’s Deutschland!!
THE
LINE: Die Nationalmannschaft +2 Goals
