WM 2010--Day Fifteen Recap

Day 15
WM 2010

Record—
Spread: 18-30
Straight up: 26-10-12

Many American fans may be concerned that the “home field advantage” will work against old uncle Sam. NEWS FLASH: African fans love a party. In spite of South Africa’s elimination, the hometown crowd is still alive and kicking. They do coordinated dances, blow upon their blessed vuvuzelas, take pictures with the fans’ of the playing team, and tell every contact I have in South Africa that they are happy to have them in their country. I do not wish to proclaim that there is no violence or danger in Africa, but I think it fair to say that the Western World has under-estimated my friends from the Dark Continent. Despite your paranoia, they are not all money-hungry desperate thieves!!!! Respect the Africans. Most all of them are kind, smart, and quite a bit of fun! If an Mzungu like me could walk around the streets of Dar-es-Salaam and Nairobi without being accosted, you can give it a try too! There are too many false expectations about Africans. They are much like us…at least in the fact that they like heavy drinks, good friends, a good game, and a fun evening. Let’s lose the fears and use the “Bongo” Every Urban are has crime and danger. You can always be bright enough to walk the other way……..

Not fully done lovin on the Africans. What an incredible display from Cote d’Ivoire today!! Songs, dances, and spirit. Irregardless of what country you support, consistently do it with heart and wit. This is what it’s all about!!

Spain is back thanks to some excellent camera work. Uruguay and Germany have some catching up to do, possible as they are both prognosticated to go far! Brazil and Portugal could have done better, both on the pitch an in the stands.
